Mr. Mourning built the Coconut Grove, Fla., house in 1996, the year he signed a seven-year contract with the Miami Heat for more than $100 million. Mr. Mourning, who spent much of his 15-year NBA career with the Heat, later moved to a larger home in Coral Gables, selling the Coconut Grove house for $6 million in 2009. The current owner is Venezuela native George Thermiotis, who bought the house from a subsequent owner in 2015 for $7.14 million.

The waterfront mansion has seven bedrooms and an elevator and spans nearly 11,000 square feet, said listing agent Bo Mastykaz of Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Located in a gated community, the house sits on roughly half an acre on Biscayne Bay; there is a private harbor that can accommodate three boat slips. According to Mr. Mastykaz, Mr. Mourning designed the house to have high ceilings and doors to accommodate the tall basketball player.

Current owners Mr. Thermiotis, who owns a marketing company that services the cosmetics industry, and his wife Corina Hernandez de Thermiotis, an artist, extensively renovated the house, Mr. Mastykaz said. The couple enjoy renovating houses, Mr. Mastykaz said.

Mr. Mourning, who retired from the NBA in 2009, is a vice president of player programs for the Miami Heat, according to the team’s website. He couldn’t be reached for comment.
