December 29 of every year is National Tick Tock Day in the USA. Not the best known of Holidays, but one with a productivity and sentimental theme. The purpose behind Tick Tock Day is a reminder, as the year is almost at an end, that there are things still left to be do by year-end, and with only two days left to get them done. End the year on a happy and productive note, and not with regret, is the basic theme behind National Tick Tock Day. So get out there with your Tick Tock and beat the Clock! If one can start the New Year with as clean a “to do” list as possible, and having addressed as much in our personal lives otherwise that we might want to tackle. Regrets can be avoided, and new opportunities seized. Don’t psych yourself out when instead here is an opportunity to seize a new beginning. So as long as you are able to still galvanize your energy you can accomplish the things you wish to do with your life. It is not too late, and instead seize the moments and the today and the next 2 days. Begin the new year with a can-do attitude with a clear heart and head vs. one with regrets.
One relevant quote sometimes pointed to bu others on Tick Tock Day is by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami from his 1988 novel Dance Dance Dance (first published in 1988, and later translated into English by Alfred Birnbaum in 1994), where he says: “Unfortunately, the clock is ticking, the hours are going by. The past increases, the future recedes. Possibilities decreasing, regrets mounting.” Tick Tock Today is almost a direct response, if one considers the above a life challenge of sorts. More can be done in less time than most people realize is one is motivated and applies oneself.
