Greta Gerwig’s “Lady Bird” has so many great zingers that it’s hard to pick a single sample, but here’s one for openers. The heroine of the title, captured in the cockeyed fullness of adolescence by Saoirse Ronan, has just finished her driving test, and her examiner tells her she passed. “Really? Thanks!” Lady Bird says. “It’s not a thanking situation,” the examiner replies. “You either pass or you don’t.” Ms. Gerwig’s movie is very much a thanking situation.
